Horton Housing Training Centre

Horton Housing Training Centre is available for clients aged 18+ who need to access employment, training and educational courses.

We provide a service to people who may have been excluded from school or other services in the past, or are experiencing problems, including substance and alcohol misuse, homelessness or mental health problems.

Tutors deliver non-accredited courses such as Personal Development, Confidence Building, Assertiveness, Communication for Employment and Tenancy Ready Training.

We are open every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9am – 4pm and every Wednesday from 9am – 3pm.

The Training Centre is well-equipped with a full IT suite and classrooms. It is easily accessible by public transport or Pay & Display parking is close by on Neal Street. Clients with mobility difficulties or using wheelchairs can access the Training Centre via a lift in the Substance Support Team building next door.

Tenancy Ready Training

This course helps you to move into and look after your own tenancy. The training can be done at your own pace with your support worker or a group session and once finished you will receive a Tenancy Ready certificate. The course is delivered by tutors in the Training Centre or support workers within schemes. You can discuss this further with your support worker or the Training Centre Manager.

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

ESOL tutors deliver English and Cultural Orientation lessons. Classes are for specific schemes only and we are unable to accept referrals.

Job Club

The Training Centre runs a regular Job Club on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10am until 12pm where we can assist you to search and apply for jobs. No appointment is necessary.

Horton Housing Training Centre has been Matrix accredited since 2011. The Matrix Standard is a unique quality standard for organisations to assess and measure their advice and support services, which ultimately supports individuals in their choice of career, learning and life goals.
