She came to the hostel after separating from her partner, with whom she had been living with at another hostel in Bradford. We have 15 self-contained single person properties in various locations across Calderdale and Kirklees. Each resident has their own bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom; some properties have a study space. All properties are fully furnished and equipped. The service is available Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm. Support workers visit the properties twice a week (depending on the clients’ needs) and offer housing-related support. Ben* Ben’s stepfather was physically, emotionally and psychologically abusive towards him. Ben, 19, left the family home when he was 16 and sofa-surfed for a year. He started a relationship with a young woman and she became pregnant. They had moved into a small bedsit, which was in bad condition and poorly managed. Ben received tenancy support from YPASS. The couple moved into a two bedroom housing association flat and received support from YPASS to set up and maintain the tenancy. We run a drop-in for clients at our office based in Halifax. The service is open every Monday to Friday, 2pm – 4pm. Clients are given advice and support on housing, substance misuse, mental health, budgeting and training and employment.
